50. Everything is on loan

August 27, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

I think it helps a lot if we consider everyone to be on loan to us. Child, spouse, partner, parent, lover, friend, colleague. When we think of relationships in this way, we will learn to value people more knowing that tomorrow the person may be gone, or that the relationship may be over. Lahat ay … Continue reading 50. 51. Take that trip

August 26, 2017August 26, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

My grief coaching clients always remind me about what matters most in life. Loss has a way of putting into sharp focus what's important. Everything else falls away. These are some of the gifts that the grief brings you. I had a full schedule from morning untilevening with widows and orphans. The message, again and … Continue reading 51. Take that trip

52. Friday’s Child

August 25, 2017August 25, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

It's 52 days to my 53rd autumn. How apt that I was born in a season that reminds us of how nothing is permanent, of how everything in life is temporary and fleeting. And that everything passes. Technically, there is no autumn, not even four seasons, in my home country, But I have always loved … Continue reading 52. Friday’s Child

When Love Doesn’t Win

August 13, 2017August 13, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

I think forgiveness is a very brave thing to do. More often than not, we really can't do it on our own, and this is when the grace of God steps in. I always used to tell my children when they were younger, "Hate is a very strong and powerful word. Do not use it." … Continue reading When Love Doesn’t Win

It’s really more of a “returning to the self” rather than “finding oneself.” 🥰 Remember who you were before the world got its hands on you.
Let’s make new#storiesbykate and #adventuresbykate in these very comfy @abelilio espadrilles 💕☺️
My day began bright and early by driving the daughter to 24-hour duty, and ended by ploughing through two hours of traffic to pick up my son from a dinner with his friends. He gets into the car and just when I thought my day would end without a single flower, he whips out a simple arrangement. “Happy Valentines, mom! It’s the kind that never dies...” Closed the day by having a late dinner at home with mom. From sunrise to sunset, hearts all over. Love, and so much grace, from beginning to end. 💕 #valentines #storiesbykate #whatsparkscathysjoy #adventuresbykate
Sate reminds me of Saturday lunches with my dad. In the late 1970s, Saturday’s meant trips to his office and lunch at the Intercon Hotel’s Jeepney coffee shop. Back then, they had the best Indonesian sate in all of Metro Manila. Over a sumptuous lunch, my dad would share life lessons and catch up on my life. Afterwards, we would head to a bookstore where he would buy me my Nancy Drew books. The sate ayam (chicken sate) in this photo was from a recent trip to Bali. I ate it every other day. It’s funny how the taste, scent and appearance of food can instantly take you back to your childhood memories. On that sunny and gorgeous morning in the veranda of our Bali hotel, it felt like I was I was having lunch with my father again. The human heart has the capacity to bear much, and to hold so much love. We really never lose the ones we love because we carry them with us all the time, wherever we may go. ❤️ #bali #balihigh2019 #adventuresbykate #storiesbykate
Let’s just be happy when others succeed. We really don’t know what kind of battle they went through, what losses they’ve had to endure to obtain the victory. ❤️
Once in a while God gifts you with a perfect 🌅 that takes your breath away!
