Finding God in Hijo

March 8, 2018March 8, 2018 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

It's been said that you always hear yourself better in quiet places. Away from the noise and chatter of the city, they say that if you intentionally soak yourself in nature, God seems to speak to you more clearly.  I flew to Davao briefly last week, to find myself some peace and quiet because I … Continue reading Finding God in Hijo

50. Everything is on loan

August 27, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

I think it helps a lot if we consider everyone to be on loan to us. Child, spouse, partner, parent, lover, friend, colleague. When we think of relationships in this way, we will learn to value people more knowing that tomorrow the person may be gone, or that the relationship may be over. Lahat ay … Continue reading 50. When Love Doesn’t Win

August 13, 2017August 13, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

I think forgiveness is a very brave thing to do. More often than not, we really can't do it on our own, and this is when the grace of God steps in. I always used to tell my children when they were younger, "Hate is a very strong and powerful word. Do not use it." … Continue reading When Love Doesn’t Win

Lessons From The 5th Decade

July 29, 2017August 13, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ 3 Comments

I find that in both the personal and the professional, the gift of the fifth decade of life is found in mastering the art of surrender. No longer upset when things don't go my way. Learning to roll with the punches, and letting the pain just slide, and yes, keeping away from situations and people … Continue reading Lessons From The 5th Decade

Basil Valdez and the Soundtrack of My Life

April 30, 2017April 30, 2017 ~ storiesbykate ~ Leave a comment

I'm 52 years old now, and for the last 40 years, Basil's songs have been a constant companion. Last night, watching him, and hearing him sing the songs that we had all grown up with was one of the most memorable evenings of my life.  Music takes us to places in our heart that we … Continue reading Basil Valdez and the Soundtrack of My Life

Dear Heart. Nice way to begin a trip. Bye muna, Manila ❤️
“Iba ang laro pag Ikaw ang kalaro.” The value of joint (parent-child) play is priceless and immeasurable. ❤️ Congratulations to Johnson & Johnson for highlighting the importance of joint play, and of creating opportunities for parents and children to get out under the sun and play together. Play is essential to every child’s development. The parent-child bond is further strengthened in joyful moments of play. ☀️💕☺️ Johnson and Johnson’s Play Days will be open all day today at the MOA concert grounds. #AlwaysOurBestForBaby
One is never too old to play 😁 Bring your children over to the MOA concert grounds for some joint parent and child play. The value of playing with your child is priceless. ❤️#AlwaysOurBestForBaby
Good Grief goes to Laguna. It never ceases to amaze me how resilient the human heart is. ❤️
Today begins here. Here, in the presence of other broken hearts. And even though my heart is heavy, the program goes on. It’s what you would have done. This one’s for you. ❤️
If only I could freeze the moments when the children were still little, I would. I have photographs, and memories — just like the song — to look back on and replay in my heart and in my head of all their playtimes in all the places that we’ve lived and traveled to. Nowadays, children hardly play. It always warms my heart to see young parents who are super hands-on with their kids. Those who are able to stop and take the time to really play with their children. Those moments are precious and a child always feels most loved when they have mom and dad, or mom, or dad’s undivided attention while at play. I was the mother behind the camera, documenting all these wonderful play days, and I’ll always be glad that I did. On Sunday, Johnson & Johnson hosts a gigantic and innovative Baby Play Days Event in partnership with Nickelodeon. If you’re a young parent with small children, I hope you can come and visit the beautiful playground that J&J is putting up at the SM MOA Concert Grounds on April 15, 2018. Please make time to play with your children while they are young. Building and investing in fun and beautiful memories together is the best legacy that you can leave them. #AlwaysOurBestForBaby ❤️
